Don’ t get me wrong. I love to meet new people. But what gets on my nerves is as soon as I have met someone through friends on a networking event, I am suddenly on their mass mailing list to promote their latest venture. It’s not that I don’t want to stay in touch with people but I do not need to know about a maternity blog..I am single. I wish that when I give someone my business card they would ask or at least have an online opt in or opt out option. Just because I met you doesn’t mean you can spam me. What I also find sad in new york city is that we are all too busy to send individuals emails to friends, instead chose to send a forward of some friendship circle that you will be hexed unless you sent it to 12 friends in the next 5 minutes. Get real people. Send a letter. Invite someone to coffee in person. Use eye contact. Be real in reality!
