On twitter: “@fuggirls This year’s Met Gala is totally making up for the lackluster Oscars this year! ”
But I saw more fashion, “oh no she didn’ts” than winners, which is odd because we have more stylists and designers than ever!
Many will share with you their opinion of what looks good (or hideous) but I would like to draw back the curtain a little bit and share with you exactly WHY certain dresses work or don’t work on that particular celebrity. When you’re dealing with couture level gowns you’re in a whole ‘other stratosphere of fashion.
In my fashion styling work there are 4 main CREDOS or standards to uphold.
1. the outfit must be a flattering color to the client (shown on the models excluded)
2. the shape, cut , and silhouette must be flattering to the client
3. the dress or outfit must be in line with the projected desired image
4. you wear the outfit not the other way around

Madonna – Stella McCartney So refreshing to see Madonna in a |
Daphne Guinness – Alexander McQueen |
Christina Ricci – Zac Posen |
Blake Lively – Chanel Couture
Loving the lovely new strawberry blond! |
Shalom Harlow – Marchesa | |
Salma Hayek – Alexander McQueen | Taylor Swift – J Mendel |
