Zelda Kaplan’s funeral service

By | February 20th, 2012 | Confessions

Zelda Kaplan’s funeral service was held at Riverside Memorial Chapel on Sunday, February 19th, 2012. I asked Abigail Shagwell Pope to cover the event. As an artist not a journalist she didn’t know who anyone was, she didn’t get anyone’s name, but thank god this girl spotted a few cool fashions and reported, “great Zelda posture quote: “shoulders back and point the nipples to the sky” and the other gem of a quote: “young people never look elegant”

Abigail’s take on the service ” It was so nice to see all sorts of people there together, young and old, of all different shades of the rainbow, come to pay their respects to Zelda, one of New York’s sassiest, sharp-witted New York eccentrics from that old New York generation which is now disappearing forever. What will we do when the entire youth-obsessed country is running around in sweatpants? Thank you, Zelda for carrying the flare torch- it lights my way and I feel like dancing.”
