Why The Skinnies MAY Be Harmful To Your Style!

By | May 12th, 2017 | Style TRUTHS

Where are all the NON skinny jeans?

Can I confess something to you?

I hate skinny jeans

Skinny leggings

Skinny cropped pants

Skinny straight leg pants.

Why?

I should love all styles equally as a personal stylist right?

Well here is the thing.

In all of my 16 years as a personal wardrobe stylist for women I would say 90% of my clients

The skinny isn’t for them.

They aren’t even the best option for me.

You’re scratching your head because you think I have the perfect skinny body so of course I can wear skinny jeans.

WRONG!!!

And I will tell you why.

Women are curvy.

It’s in our nature.

Our ankles are never going to be the same width as our hips and that’s a good thing.

But here is the thing.

When you put on skinny jeans it accentuates how small your ankles and legs are and makes your hips look proportionally wider.

For most of the 48 body shapes skinny jeans are not flattering.

Most of us need to balance our curvy hips out with a boot cut or wide leg pants. That will correct the imbalance and be more pleasing to the eye.

So you can imagine how much shopping is frustrating these days when all the stores are over stocking on this TREND of skinny leg.

Even Lord and Taylor’s boot cut and wider leg pant options are dwindling.

Saks, Bergdorfs, Bloomingdales, and Barney’s too.

The one exceptions is that I have found some really nice Ponte bootcut pants on Macys.com.

Levi’s is still doing a boot cut jean.

And Joe’s jean is still doing some bootcut and petite bootcut jeans on the pricier side.

Thank god.

I’m looking forward to the trend pendulum swinging the other way soon.

Meanwhile if you have a favorite boot cut pant or jean resource share them in the comments below.
