5 major keys to building a successful personal styling business.

with Alexandra Suzanne Greenawalt+Michelle Rodriguez

Want to find out my styling business secret weapon? Let me tell you my story…

I’ve always been a lone wolf when it comes to business, always thought I was smart enough to figure it all out. But when the bottom dropped out of my business (like everyone else) in the 2008–2009 crisis, (after freaking out) I took the time to regroup, reassess, and clarify where I wanted my styling business to go.

I decided I needed more training, not only in business but also in marketing on the internet, necessary skills for today’s marketplace. I started with a Fast Track entrepreneurship course in NYC, but not much was applicable to styling. Then I met a social media teacher Melea Seward who taught me tons about SEO and online strategy, and I enrolled in Marie Forleo’s B-school and met some amazing women through the journey. It was generally helpful, but there was still something missing that I couldn’t quite put my finger on.

At RHH Live, I met the one woman who would change my life and business forever: Michelle Rodriguez,  personal stylist and founder of The Paid Stylist. She had a waiting list to work with her, and I figured if she had more business than she could handle I could certainly learn a thing or two from her. I worked with Michelle for over 12 months and saw significant increase in new business. After working with her I signed five new clients in one month, and one of them has an AmEx black card – yes, I couldn’t believe it.

If you’ve been noodling around the internet, you’ll see there are no shortage of general “make money online” programs that will draw you in with lofty promises and take your money. But NONE of them address where the business of styling is at today.

Michelle took all of her knowledge of what works and what doesn’t in the private styling market, making her Paid Stylist Program program totally unique to the personal styling business.

The Paid Stylist now offers the COMMITTED version facilitated by STYLE MENTORS Nicole Otchy.

If personal styling (meaning you want to work with real women as your clients) is your calling, I urge you to check it out.

My word is gold to me, so I’ve always been really conscious of who I promote.
In all my years of blogging and styling, I’ve ONLY talked about designers and people who I truly believe are top notch and my blog is strictly editorial.

The up and coming stylists who I have recommended to the program had this to say:

“Michelle, your Paid Stylist program is like an MBA program. That’s how good it is.” –Nicole Otchy (launched January 8, 2013)

“Michelle, I booked my first shopping trip today! There’s no way I could’ve done it without you.” –Heather Rae Mitchell (launching January 28, 2013)

“I am so grateful for the incredible program you’ve so thoughtfully put together as well as for your absolutely delightful and sparkling personality. You’re just the loveliest person, and you’re so inspirational and motivating!!” –Nicole Foos (launching January 28, 2013)

I invite you to check out the Committed Paid Stylist program, and if you mention my name (Alexandra Suzanne Greenawalt) during the payment process as your referral source in the space I will include the following bonuses: (even if you are signing up to have me as your mentor in the program or not)

Hi! I hope you are having a great Sunday. I'm excited to say that based on your recommendation I signed up for the next Paid Stylist: Committed Program which starts September 8th! I didn't see a space in the payment process to put your name down as a referral, but I sent Ms. Rodriguez an email letting her know that I heard about it through you. I wanted to contact you as well because your bonuses are a big part of what helped me make the decision to sign up. I'm hoping to read your book before the program starts so please let me know what you need from me in order to send it my way; and I'm close by in Philadelphia so hopefully we can figure out a day for me to come to NYC to take that shopping style field trip. Looking forward to it!All the best, Mercy

i am currently working at a Advertising Agency where i am exposed to so much. My position there as a finance billing manager has absolutely nothing to do with styling. My daughter is a F.I.T. graduation for fashion design, merchandising, marketing. I often am afforded the opportunity to attend some fashion shows shes apart of and am ALWAYS asked to help dress the models, style a photo shoot, etc. I could easily find myself submerged for hours in collecting jewelry, clothing and other accessories for these types of photo shoots. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE LOVE LOVE IT. i wasnt sure if you had to go to college for credentials in this area/field or not. I would love if someone could back to me with feedback on how to explore and bark on the adventure of being a STYLIST!! 212-352-4588 / 516-724-4774

Fashion is my life! I think about fashion 24/7... I have a great Administrative job that has absolutely nothing to do with this field. I would love the opportunity to learn about how to get into styling. I am willing to work for free to do what I love. I need to follow my dream and this is it! Please help!
