Celebrating 500 posts!

Here’s to my 500th post on alexandrastylist.com

When I started this blog, I kept it secret because I was shy about my writing. It was called “Confessions of a Young Old-Fashioned Girl,” and my goal was to be a bit dishy, inspired of course by Sex and the City.

It’s more deep and personal these days, but evolution is good. After all, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” Lao-tzu, The Way of Lao-tzu

It all started on Blogger as a locked blog, a place to share funny personal dating, social commentary, and style stories. Once I got more comfortable with sharing online, I took the lock off. Then I had it converted into WordPress and merged with my AlexandrAstylist.com site to make it a branch off of my business.

At that time I focused writing exclusively about style and the fashion world, with the occasional art or travel post when relevant. In the past 12 months, I’ve honed in my focus yet again, talking about the deeper issues that women face when confronted with style.

Self-esteem, being visible, and putting your best foot forward are the deeper themes I’ve recently been exploring and sharing on the blog. My best advice is if you feel you’re stuck at the beginning of your style or business journey, just start! You don’t have to have it all figured out. It can evolve along the way.

For fun, here’s a link to the most popular post over the past 5 years, which was inspired by Melea Seward’s SEO class I took a few years back. It changed the way I think about blogging and helped organically catapult my site to the number one rankings on Google.
