Beautiful Baptism

the church for the baptism

I have traveled to the Greek islands to celebrate the christening of my cousin’s twin babies. Really I don’t need a big excuse to travel to Europe. Despite the trucker strike here in Greece which prevented the reception to receive all that the fancy event planner had arranged the baptism reception went off beautifully. The end result was a cozy, charming and more family affair for 100 friends and family. Chairs and tables were borrowed, plates (i think every plate was used as the hostess has a wonderful collection of place settings) and glassware were brought from Athens, a local DJ was found, flowers picked from the field. A couple who run local taverna called Lembesis hired a 4pm the day before managed to prepare a delicious feast for a 100 just starting the morning of. The same chef Stamatis also drove the mini bus shuttling guests home after the party from 12 midnight to 4am. No rest for the weary! The food was served was served buffet style which promoted mixing, mingling, and relaxed atmosphere. After dessert the DJ turned the outdoor patio into nightclub with the most incredible ocean front views. A truely memorable event and none of the guests seemed to miss the fancy catering. Just goes to show you sometimes LESS IS MORE!
